In accordance with the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, No. 28 of 2002, the objectives of Sebilo Resources’ Social and Labour Plan is to consider the company’s social development programmes in the context of generally recognised standards of sustainable development by integrating the social, economic and environmental factors in planning the mining operations throughout the life of the mine.

This will be accomplished by:
  • Promoting employment and advancing the social and economic welfare of the people of the host municipality and the district in general
  • Contributing to the transformation of the mining industry
  • Extending Sebilo’s contribution to the socio-economic development of the communities where it operates

Sebilo has developed a new Social and Labour Plan for the period 2019 to 2023 in terms of Regulation 46 as read with Regulation 43 and 44 of the Act which will be referred to as the Social and Labour Plan 2.

Sebilo stakeholders (primarily Joe Morolong local municipality) have been thoroughly engaged throughout the process.

The programme aligns itself to the following requirements:
  • Consultation and co-operation in formulating integrated development plans
  • Co-operating with government in implementing these plans for the Joe Morolong community and other identified communities
